At WETEX 2018 in Dubai, IFFEN presented its training courses for photovoltaic power station installation (these concentrated, centralized power stations are sometimes referred to as solar parks or solar farms). Large-scale solar installations such as these allow solar energy to be used as a primary source of energy for entire regions or countries, which will be necessary to meet the ambitious goals for renewable energy being set around the world.
The European Union agreed to a binding renewable energy target of 32 percent by 2030, and France aims for 40 percent of renewable electricity by 2030.
In the United Arab Emirates, the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 aims for 25 percent solar energy by 2030, and 75 percent clean energy sources by 2050. The solar energy will be provided by Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which intends to become the largest single location generator of solar power in the world. The project began in 2013, and as of 2017 has a capacity of 200 megawatts. By 2030 the solar park will generate 5,000 megawatts, fulfilling the 25 percent target for Dubai.
With its array of solar training courses and new virtual reality platform, IFFEN is investing in the engineers of the future, who will be able to make ambitious solar projects into the reliable sources of energy that are needed around the world.
